Information on Dor Firnen (Brown Lands)

Posted by Peter Bergman at November 07. 2007

Hey there,

I´m doing some background work for a campaign and am trying to get as much info as possible concerning Dor Firnen. I have searched most of the related MERP modules (Mirkwood, Ents of Fangorn, Riders of Rohan), and found only brief mention of the region. I have searched the Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and the Tolkien Companion. So far its all just short and brief...

Does anyone here know of any more sources, that I might have overlooked?

Many thanks for a great first edition of Other Minds!

/Peter

Have you checked out the merp.com website search engine? That will come up with a lot of info (also Michael Martinez's essays).

Also have you tried posting to the merp@merp.com email list? That's a great resource for such topics.

Do you have any modules/adventures you might consider submitting to OM? We'd love to get such content in every issue.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply!

I´ll check out the tips and see what comes up.

...and when it comes to adventures/modules...I´ve been thinking about some of my material as possible for submission. I´ll get a move on and get some stuff sent to you as soon as I can manage.

Thanks again!

According to The Lord of the Rings:
A Reader’s Companion
by Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull,
Tolkien describes in his unfinished index (for The Lord of the
Rings
) the Brown Lands
as a ‘translation’ of Berennyn (Sindarin baran
‘brown, yellow-brown’) ‘a devastated region, east of Anduin,
between Lórien and the Emyn Muil’.
